PRINCIPAL
Stephanie has been practicing architecture across a broad range of project types and scales in the mountain resort setting since 1992. Her project portfolio includes private custom residences, affordable housing, mixed-use commercial facilities, resort clubhouses and amenity buildings, and public emergency response facilities. In addition to being involved in early design development via hand sketching and drawings, Stephanie spearheads the interior architecture on most Berglund Architect’s projects. She believes marrying the architectural design process with interior design development results in a seamless interaction between the two, bringing clients dreams and visions to life which is a key mission on all of Berglund Architects’ projects.
Stephanie’s passion for architecture started as a young child while traveling with her family. Touring buildings and exploring spaces brought forth an early understanding and joy in how the built environment can uplift and connect people to place. While her projects have been diverse, they are all consistently characterized by having a strong connection to the site, embodying the character of the place, and capturing the essence of the clients’ dreams and visions.
Stephanie received a Master of Architecture from Tulane University in 1991. She completed a study abroad program in Venice and worked for an architect in Germany during college broadening her love of how place influences life.
She fills strongly about giving back to her community and has administrated the Cordillera Valley Club and the Brightwater Golf Community Design Review Boards. She has sat on the Beaver Creek Design Review Board and is currently a member of the Mountain Star Design Review Committee. Additionally, Stephanie has worked on projects for the Town of Vail and the Town of Avon as their architectural consultant. She also is currently part of the advisory group for the updated Eagle County Land Use Regulations. She has been LEED certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and has guided two projects to silver certifications. She is a member of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) and has been member of the Berglund Architects team since 2011.
Stephanie was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado and though she always loved skiing, really became a mountain girl when she moved back to the state in 1991. She finds spending time wandering the woods with her husband and dogs is not only the perfect counterbalance to her architectural pursuits but also a key source of inspiration.
