  • PROJECT DETAILS

When planning the home, the owners said “We want to stand in the middle of the house and have the view come to us… and we want it to be a timeless modern old world home.” We achieved this through a transparent steel structure with custom floor to ceiling steel windows throughout the great room which is balanced by old world stone fireplaces and the palette of rich natural materials of the organic hickory floors; the rustic wood beams and ceilings; and the natural stained Alder casework and cabinets. The cleanly detailed exposed structural steel and steel railings are harmoniously juxtaposed by the natural materials utilized throughout the house creating a dynamic design which is at once modern and old world. Instead of hiding these necessary structural steel elements, we have used them as powerful design elements which accentuate the old world nature of the stone and organic palette of the natural materials.
